Eisai has signed the Kigali Declaration announced at the Kigali Summit on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) on June 23 2022 in the Republic of Rwanda.
This highlights our continued support for the elimination of NTDs as launched by the World Health Organization (WHO). Based on our human health care (hhc) philosophy, we have positioned the elimination of NTDs as an important area of focus and this is further emphasised with the appointment of our CEO Haruo Naito as one of the 100 Global Leaders Committed to Eliminating NTDs.
Eisai has been actively involved in the elimination of NTDs by providing treatment for lymphatic filariasis for free via the WHO and collaborating with global partners on the research and development of new treatments for other NTDs such as mycetoma disease.
The Kigali Declaration is the successor of the London Declaration, and is a commitment from stakeholders for the elimination of NTDs. This Declaration aims to meet the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal on NTDs and achieve the targets of the WHO’s road map for NTDs 2021-2030.
